Youth
Reiners Encouraged to Apply for Scholarships
The RHSF is dedicated to
helping Youth members reach their educational goals. Anne-Marie Burns,
Director of the Reining Horse Sports Foundation and Vice-Chair of the NRHA
Youth Committee noted, "One of our core programs is to help raise funds
for youth programs. The Foundation has been very fortunate to have generous
members donate to the RHSF Scholarship Fund affording us the opportunity to
provide scholarships to dedicated and deserving young reiners. Our young people are the future of
reining. By providing scholarships to them, we are helping them achieve
their educational goals and fostering the leadership qualities needed to keep
the sport of reining alive for many years to come."
The RHSF is taking
applications for the $1000 scholarships from now until June 15, 2007.
Applicants must be an NRHA member and also a senior in high school pursing an
undergraduate degree in a two or four year institution of higher education,
trade or technical school. Previous recipients of the RHSF scholarships
are eligible to reapply for scholarships until they are 25 years old.
To be considered for the
scholarship awards, applicants are required to submit an essay that meets
certain criteria. They are also required to answer questions about financial
need. Applicants must also submit a recent grade report along with three
letters of reference and a photograph.
