May 8, 2007

Meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President Monte Anderman.

Members present: Ken Swanson, Steve DeFrang, Brian Welman, Al Gadola, Chad Clark, Janice Fier, Monte Anderman, Sarah Mackay, Deb Dryden,

Members absent: Wanda Krause, Lacey Krause, Ann Riewer, Jenny Wiederholt, Nettie Baker.

  1. Show Secretary Report:  The walkie-talkies have expended their useful life.  The batteries were replaced Fall of 2006 to no avail.  A motion was made by Al Gadola on behalf of Wanda Krause to purchase new walkie – talkies, which was seconded by Chad Clark.  Motion was approved by the board.  Al will purchase them.
  2. Directory:  Directory was finished for the Minnesota Expo on April 27-29.  The projected cost to mail the directory to each member is $1.80.  Advertisers currently pay $80 for ˝ page ad; $150 for full page ad; $300 for front/back inside cover.   Brian Welman recommended the 2008 directory be completed by the 2007 NRHA Futurity for earlier distribution.  Also discussed was reevaluating the current fee structure of the advertisers.
  3. Taxes:  A suggestion was made to verify with our accountant the tax implications of having the directory more profitable.  Janice Fier will report on this matter at the June 5 meeting.
  4. Banquet:  Volunteers are needed to coordinate the 2008 Awards Banquet.
  5. NCRHA Futurity:  Chad Clark informed us he is waiting for “Claim A Reiner” class to be approved by NRHA.

Meeting was again called to order by President Monte Anderman at 8:20 p.m.

  1. Brian Welman moved the NCRHA Futurity raise their stall fees to $150.00 per stall.  The extra monies raised would allow for two possibilities:  A monetary incentive for the five lower level class participants and more funds for future profitability of the show.  The monetary incentive program would consist as follows:  A composite score for the following classes would be offered: GAG, Youth 13 & Under, Youth 14 and above. Rookie, and Ltd Non-Pro where the highest three composite scores of the weekend would receive money.  Highest composite score = $300.  Second = $150.  Third = $50.  The intent of this philosophy is to encourage more enthusiastic participation for the above mentioned divisions and would not affect their NRHA standing as it is not NRHA approved.  Motion passed with Steve DeFrang dissenting.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
