FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EXPERT TRAINING FOR REINERS OF ALL AGES

Oklahoma City, OK – February 16, 2010 – Two of the nation’s top reining professionals will be holding a clinic at V2 Reining Horses.  The 2010 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Regional Clinics will be in the North Central US Region on May 21 and May 22.  NRHA Professionals Shawn Flarida and Mike Davis will hold the clinic to benefit reiners of all ages and experience levels in Davenport, IA.

NRHA Three Million Dollar Rider Shawn Flarida is coming off an impressive 2007-2009 season where he and Wimpys Little Chic won the 2007 NRHA Open Futurity, the 2008 National Reining Breeders Classic and the 2008 NRHA Open Derby championship consecutively.  No other horse and rider combination has accomplished this feat, and yet Flarida turned around at the 2009 NRHA Derby and won it with RC Fancy Step and the 2009 NRHA Futurity with Gunnatrashya.  Even with all of his success he makes it a point to host these clinics in his support of the NRHyA and enjoys the feedback he receives.

“People will even find me during the year and say that worked or that didn’t work or wow, I just got that,” said Flarida.

Joining Flarida and graciously hosting the clinic is Mike Davis of V2 Reining Horses who had a tremendous 2009 season by finishing as the Level 3 Intermediate Open, Limited Open level 2 and Level 1 Open Champion at the NRHA Futurity on Wimpys TonnobDavis, too, is very passionate about the youth programs at NRHA and was instrumental in developing this clinic.

This is the fifth year the NRHA has organized clinics to raise funds for the National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA). The clinics are designed to help improve horsemanship and performance for those interested in learning more about reining, the Reining industry and the NRHA. The one-on-one training that participants receive is tailored to each individual participant. Every clinic consists of two one-day clinics giving participants the opportunity to attend either or both days as they prefer.

Participants from all disciplines learn by doing and also by watching other reiners during the hands-on sessions. “The amount of advice and knowledge that’s passed along is phenomenal. I’ll learn more here in one afternoon than I would in a week with a book or a video,” said Rick Finkler, NRHA Regional Clinic participant. Another participant, Ashley Bosack, commented, “I love learning new things and having different trainers teach me. It’s been really fun.”

Space is limited so sign up as soon as possible. All the proceeds go to support NRHyA scholarships, programs and youth activities.  The cost is $250 for youth riders participating both days or $150 per day.  Adults are encouraged to participate with an entry of $450 for both days or $250 per day. Auditors are welcome to attend for $25 per day.  For more information or to register for a clinic, please contact Manager of Youth & Outreach Programs Brian Bendele at (405) 946-7400 ext. 130 or bbendele@nrha.com
